Jewelry Exchange 2014

So in my last post I said that I didn't have any studio commitments at the moment. Well, I do have one. I signed up to participate in the Jewelry Exchange 2014, organized via Facebook by Olga Raben. There are a couple hundred participants world wide, and I can only marvel at Olga's organizational skills to take on something of this scale. She's thoughtfully paired up each artist with another artist, who are then to make each other something, package it nicely, include the story of the maker and then the recipient is to document the piece after it arrives. These images will then be included in an online gallery.

I'm so excited to be paired up with Mima Pejoska, an art jeweler currently living in Berlin. She's exhibited all over the world and has an MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design. I can't wait to get to know her and her work, and I'm really looking forward to making her something special. I don't know what that is yet, but I have some time to figure it out. I'm loving Mima's style already. She does amazing filigree and I love her ethereal knitted wire works.

I'll post pics of the finished work, and maybe some process shots, but not until after Mima receives the piece. Surprises are more fun when they're actual surprises.

I'd love to hear if anyone else is signed up for this and who their partners are! Feel free to comment!
