Art a Day

On Thursday I drove down to Indiana University of Pennsylvania to see my dear friend Dan DiCaprio give a lecture. I had a great time, but looking at all of Dan's amazing work made me think about how I feel like I've stalled out in my own studio practice. And while I also feel that moving across several states and starting a brand new job are reasonable excuses for taking a short studio break, I also feel it's time to get serious again.

Dan showed several pieces from when he did the "Ring a Day" challenge, where you make a ring every day for a month. Which got me thinking that a "-------- A Day" would be a great way to jump start my studio practice. I'm starting with brooches and will make a brooch a day, everyday, until October 11, when I'll switch to something else, likely rings. I'm going to try and keep this up for an entire year, changing objects every month so that I don't get bored.

Day 1: Book Board, Vintage Papers

Day 1: Book Board, Vintage Papers

After spending much of the past 2 years focusing on limited production for Sieraad and ACC, it's time to make some "Art with a capitol A". I'm planning a series of reliquaries, which are going to be more labor intensive than anything I've made in quite some time. I think this one a day deal will be a great compliment to the long haul of container making.

So here's to art. Everyday. Wish me luck.
