At the start of September I decided to start another 30 Day making Challenge. I chose to do books this time around, since that's where my mind seems to be these days. For some reason, after stressful periods or times of transition, I find it hard to sit at the jeweler's bench. There's something more restful about making books, something restorative. I think of bookmaking as creative yoga, and jewelry making as creative weightlifting or cardio.
I get a little nervous in these periods where I'm away from metal. I feel like I'm not doing my job, or playing hookie by messing with paper. But I always know when it's time to return to the bench and I always do.
Here are the results for the past week or so. Some are going to be samples to use for a book making class I'm going to teach, starting next week, some are going to be sent to friends and some are listed in the Etsy shop. It's a great opportunity for me to play with new ideas and techniques. If you want to see day to day results, follow me on Instagram @lrsteiner7
Thanks for reading! Happy weekend!
